Overall Objective: To enhance sustainable livestock breeding in rural areas by Black communal farmers and improve economic participation in the red meat value-chain and create sustainable communal commercial breeders.
Specific Objectives:
- To introduce adaptable superior genetics to enhance economic viability of production systems for targeted communal farmers.
- The purpose is to improve the genetic material of the herd in the the targeted communal farmers in order to improve their marketability and participation in A-grade beef production.
- This will lead to increasing the contribution of beef production to the agricultural GPD of the province and the country.
- To nurture sustainable natural resources management in livestock production.
- This is intended to ensure the appropriate utilisation of available forage resources to meet the livestock and nutritional requirements and while promoting the conservation of natural resources for future generations.
- This intervention will fast-track the transformation of the red meat industry by introducing previously disadvantaged producers in the main stream economy while enhancing the capacity of the province to meet the red meat demand.
